The Clunes Museum is run entirely by volunteers and it's a great place to volunteer. It is an opportunity to do interesting work, acquire new skills and learn more about the district's rich cultural heritage. We provide training and pay for volunteers to attend workshops.
Just to give you an idea, these are some of the core jobs involved in running a modern museum:
- Collection Management and Presentation. Eg: cataloguing; database management; setting up Special Exhibitions; updating the Permanent Exhibitions; preservation and conservation projects.
- Promotion and Marketing. Eg: online sale of publications and photographs; Open Days; talks; special events.
- Community Engagement and Audience Development. Eg: school tours; group tours; Clunes History walks.
- Special Projects. Eg: the Green Museum Project; Oral History research.
Currently, we are especially looking for two people to take on the administration of our new website.
Membership is $20 Single and $30 for a Family. The benefits of membership include free admission to the Museum and a subscription to "Discovery", the Museum's quarterly newsletter, as well as the opportunity to participate in the Museum's work.

We have a monthly meeting every 2nd Thurs of the month at 10AM at the Warehouse and working sessions every other Thursday from 10AM at the Museum.
